We Understand Athletes
We know how being injured can throw the rest of your life out of balance, because we are athletes too. We don’t like being told to simply “take time off” from the very activities that fulfill and enrich us. Rest is important, but there is always something you can do to facilitate and support that healing process. The treatments you will receive at Boulder Acusport are the kind of treatments that we would want: the methods that have worked for us, and the methods we have seen work time and time again on other athletes. Precise, effective treatments. We want to get you back out there doing what you love, and we want you to do it better, faster, and stronger.
We Fix the Root Imbalance
We believe that the body, mind and emotions are complexly intertwined, and that treating imbalances in your body will lead to greater mental and emotional health (and vice versa). We also recognize that every cell in your body is connected in a dense web of fascia, nerves, and blood; therefore we cannot fully address your injury without considering the unique holding patterns and compensations that occur in your body.
In order to treat the pain in your achilles, we might need to increase the stability of your hips. To fix that ache in your lower back, we might need to free the restrictions in your neck. A lot of what we do is unwinding chains of myofascial adhesions to get to the core of your imbalance. Our goal is always to get you out of pain as soon as possible, but we don’t like to just chase symptoms; we want to give you results that last.
Many acupuncturists have little to no training in sports medicine, but that has always been our primary focus. Ginna spent a year interning in the Dal Ward training room at CU Boulder, treating some of the nation’s best collegiate runners, skiers, soccer and football athletes. She also completed a six-month sports medicine acupuncture apprenticeship with Whitfield Reaves, one of the first practitioners to specialize in orthopedic acupuncture and the author of one of the only books on the subject.
